Kuro Arashi

"This is simply the way I am. If I were to just try to be some way different, I would be lying to myself. You must understand, the most important thing in this world is to be who you are, to claim your name, and to claim your soul. Without that, it leaves us nothing but empty, just masks over a void, trying to interact with the world. How many people lose themselves in a thousandfold false faces, just to make others happy? I am not so selfish as to believe I can pretend to be what I am not and make another smile. I am simply me. If I am not true to that, then I am less than a man."
—Masaru Nanjou

Masaru Nanjou (南條 勝, Nanjou Masaru) is a fictional character and primary protagonist in Kuro Arashi: The Black Storm. Masaru is a magical prodigy, almost on par with Negi Springfield in terms of actual power and skill, though his ability in western magic compared to Negi is lacking severely as it is unlike the form of magic he is used to, therefore he only knows a few spells.

Masaru's power and skill shows in his swordsmanship, his hand to hand combat, and his tracing and when he uses it, his powerful magic. Masaru tends to be less emotional when it comes to fighting for something, but when he does do it, he gives it everything.

Early LifeEdit

Born to the famous magician and corporate CEO Kei Nanjou and a mother he never knew, Masaru is an intuitive young man who takes everything he sees and experiences as an opportunity or a dead end. To the point, sarcastic, and sometimes stuck-up in the eyes of some, Masaru knows he's got talent and isn't afraid to display it, yet he also believes in honor, and following the rules.

Like any young person, he sometimes uses his money for frivolous things, but he also has a care not to use too much of it, as he knows nothing is infinite. Though at times he is advised against it, Masaru has imaged gemstones in order to make some extra money for himself, but he does it sparingly so as not to draw attention to himself or his gift. Masaru's childhood has been for the most part nondescript in his eyes; while he's traveled the world with his family's company, and has apprenticeships in several parts of the company as well as stocks in the business, he considers his life boring most of the time, and he envies the freedom that others have, free of responsibility.

Mahora AcademyEdit

Masaru was enrolled into one of the many schools at Mahora Academy, and has been learning western magic as well as his natural imaging talent. The ability he has to image still baffles most of the Mahora teachers, and few if any of them can explain it. Masaru is also said to be able to use the form of magic that allows him to imagine something into existence, but no one has seen him use it as of yet. This is mostly due to the fact he hasn't wanted to use it.
